Leaders & Mentors

Trusted Friends

We use the terms leaders and mentors interchangeably to refer to adult volunteers who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf, and in their culture. They listen to their stories and learn what’s important to them because they genuinely care about their joys, triumphs, heartaches, and setbacks. They love kids right where they are in life and become a trusted friend who models Christ’s unconditional love.

Kids’ lives are dramatically impacted when these adults come alongside them and share God’s love. And because their leaders believe in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning, and purpose.

Keeping Kids Safe

An important part of our commitment to kids is how we keep them safe. Our staff and volunteer leaders know t
hey are responsible for modeling lives of hope and integrity. Young Life's Human Resources department has developed mission-wide policies and procedures to ensure that kids are protected when they are with Young Life staff and/or volunteers as well as when kids are part of Young Life's sponsored activities. Leaders complete background checks, a new leader training class, driver questionnaires, and a faith and conduct covenant.
